Big data specialist Zettaset and data center server manufacturer Hyve Solutions, a division of distributor SYNNEX (NYSE: SNX), announced their partnership to create a joint implementation of Apache Hadoop built on an enterprise-level platform and operating system. From their vantage point, the collaboration unites Zettaset Orchestrator, a Hadoop big data management platform that runs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2, with Hyve Solutions’ data center servers.

The combination of Red Hat Linux 6.2, Zettaset Orchestrator and integration by Hyve Solutions, the companies claim, “enables enterprises to manage their big data needs with an easy-to-use appliance that leverages the compelling benefits of Red Hat’s operating system technology.”

“In the Hadoop community, there are a lot of wasted resources that go into figuring out what is the best configuration of hardware, operating system and Hadoop distribution for the best use case for the enterprise. There are a lot of wasted cycles, a lot of headaches and a lot of pain,” said Brian Christian, Zettaset CTO, in a prepared statement. “This is the only turnkey solution on the market that contains a trusted hardware, OS and Hadoop solution that is reputable, stable and standardized — it takes the guesswork out of everything.”

Last month SYNNEX partnered with IaaS firm SoftLayer to provide cloud infrastructure services to reseller-partners via the SYNNEX CLOUDSolv platform. According to the companies, the partnership would allow SYNNEX resellers to provide an alternative cloud infrastructure service for customers that need to employ new technologies without having to invest in new hardware. SYNNEX launched CLOUDSolv in October 2011 in an effort to differentiate its cloud services form competitive IT distributors, noting at the time that CLOUDSolv is more than a cloud aggregator service for VARs and MSPs.
