When Thrive Networks, a Staples (NASDAQ: SPLS) company, announced a Cloud Workspace strategy, Talkin' Cloud went poking around to see what cloud services platform Thrive was actually leveraging. The answer is independenceIT, according to sources who are familiar with Thrive Networks' business strategy.

So who exactly is independenceIT? The name is familiar to regular Talkin' Cloud readers. Based in Allentown, Pa., independenceIT's Cloud Workspace platform allows MSPs and VARs with qualified data centers to serve cloud desktops out to end-customers.

independenceIT also offers VCD -- which allows VARs and MSPs to manage pricing, quote creation, ordering and provisioning, and other IT-centric tasks. VCD integrates with popular business management and PSA (professional services automation) platforms like Autotask and ConnectWise.

Back at Thrive Networks, it sounds like Cloud Workspace is part of a larger managed and cloud services push. Thrive has ranked among the world's top managed services providers (MSPs) for several years now, and more recently has pushed into such areas as hosted Exchange.

Meanwhile, idependenceIT seems to be gaining a following among well-known MSPs. In addition to the apparent Thrive Networks win, independenceIT is also catching on with TeamLogicIT, a franchising organization that works closely with VARs and MSPs and EarthLink.

Those cloud services provider (CSP) wins beg the question: Is independenceIT gaining critical mass with hosting providers and MSPs that want to deliver cloud services? The anecdotal evidence looks promising.
