Intermedia is entering the file sync and share market with the release of SecuriSync, which it's marketing as a business-grade file collaboration service that provides the features organizations need without compromising on security.
The options for file sync and share continue to grow. This time, Intermedia has entered the market with a file sync and share cloud service designed to be a business-grade collaboration service that makes security a priority, according to the company.
With SecuriSync, Intermedia promises simplicity and mobility without the need to compromise control or protection. The company noted in its announcement that it tailored the app to be as simple as Dropbox, but with security features businesses require. It's a sharp jab at one of the most dominant file sync and share providers that has had its share of security failures.
For partners, there's a good channel story that goes along with the product launch.
"This service is consistent with our vision of providing small- and medium-sized businesses with a tightly integrated suite of critical cloud IT services," said Michael Gold, president of Intermedia, in a prepared statement. "And, unlike other services in the market, SecuriSync can be gray-labeled so partners can fully own their customer relationships, including full control over all features of a customer's SecuriSync experience, such as billing, branding, pricing and more."
SecuriSync has both desktop and mobile device sharing options, so it's not unlike most of the other file sync and share services that are flooding the market. Where Intermedia is trying to differentiate itself is with its security and control. It's providing customers with control over sharing permissions, at-rest and in-transit encryption, remote wipe capabilities and a 99.999 percent SLA to protect user content.
At times, it seems as though the file sync-and-share market is getting too saturated, but perhaps as that saturation continues, there is still a chance for vendors—and their partners—to shine through the use of appropriate security measures and other value-added elements.
