Docker Acquires SocketPlane To Enhance Open API Platform For SDN. Docker, the company behind the open source containerized virtualization platform, this week announced it has acquired SocketPlane to bring a new set of networking APIs to its platform. SocketPlane, which launched fewer than six months ago, focused on building networking solutions for Docker. Currently, the containerization platform lacks a complete set of networking APIs to allow containerized apps to make easy use of the host system's network resources.
Intronis Unveils ECHOPlatform Winter Release '15. Intronis has announced the Winter Release '15 of its Intronis ECHOplatform data protection platform. The Chelmsford, Massachusetts-based cloud backup and disaster recovery (BDR) solutions provider said its new release is designed to help channel partners better support more complex cloud, virtualized and physical IT environments.
CompTIA Announces Cloud Trustmark+: Here's What You Need To Know. CompTIA has launched the CompTIA Cloud Trustmark+, a business credential that is designed to accredit and differentiate the IT channel's best-practice cloud distributors and vendors. To earn the Cloud Trustmark+, cloud distributors and vendors must demonstrate a commitment to providing IT channel partners with best-in-class technology, integrations, support and enablement resources, according to CompTIA.
Docker Containers Rise Into The Cloud. The single hottest topic these days in or out of the cloud is Docker containers. As an alternative form of virtualization containers have been around on Linux platform for years. But with the advent of Docker containers it's becoming simpler to invoke "micro-services" to create distributed computing applications that can span almost any combination of hybrid cloud computing scenarios.
