Qualys and Verizon have announced a partnership that will see the two companies jointly develop cloud-based IT security and compliance management services.
Qualys, a provider of cloud security and compliance management products and services, has partnered with global managed security solutions provider Verizon (NYSE: VZ) to develop and deliver cloud-based IT security and compliance management services.
Based on the QualysGuard Cloud Platform, the new cloud security services from the two companies will be an extension of an existing relationship. According to Qualys, this expanded partnership will give Verizon customers access to Qualys' platform to secure and protect their IT assets and web applications from cyberattacks. Another key element will be the automating of compliance with services, including vulernability management, web-application scanning and PCI and policy compliance.
Additionally, Verizon plans to add an additional layer of analytics to the managed security services "by leveraging its proprietary risk models to provide clients with actionable information about their security risk posture."
"By incorporating these solutions into our managed services and consulting offerings, our clients now have more choice and flexibility in meeting their compliance and security requirements—a growing area of focus for our clients," said said Cindy Bellefeuille Stanton, director of security product management for Verizon Enterprise Solutions, in a prepared statement.
According to Philippe Courtot, chairman and CEO of Qualys, the expanded relationship between the two companies "will pay big dividends for enterprises looking to strengthen their security defense."
This announcement with Verizon follows closely on the heels of another Qualys partnership—Qualys recently announced it was working with TraceSecurity on cloud-based IT governance, risk and compliance (GRC) solutions.
At RSA Conference 2013 this week, Qualys is quite busy pushing ahead with new partnerships that will take its cloud-based IT security and compliance management technology to groups of potentially new customers through partnering with others in the cloud security space. It's a good move that could see the company continue to expand.
Two years ago, Qualys used RSA Conference to launch its security-as-a-service platform.
