Cyber security platform provider FireEye (FEYE) has unveiled a new version of its email threat prevention solution.
The FireEye Email Threat Prevention Cloud, a software-as-a-service-based (SaaS-based) security solution, now includes advanced threat detection capabilities along with the traditional email security features of anti-spam and antivirus protection.
FireEye's new release is designed for enterprises that need on-premise email protection, according to the company.
It enables enterprises to analyze emails and their attachments and quarantine messages that contain spam and known viruses.
FireEye noted the new version of its email security solution features:
- A cloud deployment model
- Enhanced email security
- New anti-spam and antivirus protection capabilities
"In email security, security teams need the ability to address traditional and advanced email-based attacks. By consolidating secure email with its virtual-machine technology, FireEye provides convenience and efficacy in one solution," International Data Corporation (IDC) Principal Analyst John Grady said in a prepared statement.
FireEye Email Threat Prevention Cloud also allows enterprises to view real-time security alerts and generate reports.
"Traditional email security products do little to protect enterprises from advanced, sophisticated attacks," FireEye Senior Vice President of Products Manish Gupta said. "By unifying our advanced threat detection capabilities with the traditional email security tools enterprises have relied on, organizations can now have email security that efficiently protects them from the wide variety of attacks seen today."
