AppNeta, which provides cloud-based services for performance management, is taking its technology to the unified communications and collaboration (UC&C) space through a partnership with Polycom. With this new agreement, AppNeta will provide Polycom's customers with end-to-end visibility into their UC&C application performance.

Using AppNeta PathView Cloud, Polycom's customers will be able to proactively monitor their IP networks. According to AppNeta, the cloud-based performance management service will guarantee performance of new applications like voice and video conferencing, as well as ensure high quality end-user experiences.

"Together, we're delivering UC&C solutions that power richer conversations and higher productivity, transforming lives and businesses in the process," said Sudhakar Ramakrishna, president of products and services at Polycom, in a prepared statement.

It's probably safe to assume this will touch on Polycom's own cloud-based communications and collaboration solutions, such as RealPresence video-as-a-service (VaaS) offerings. There was no word on how this partnership between AppNeta and Polycom will affect Polycom's partners, but last year, the company launched its RealPresence Cloud VaaS offering as a partner-led sales initiative.

"Through our collaboration with Polycom, we are committed to helping its customers achieve the business value of UC&C over converged networks," said Jim Melvin, CEO of AppNeta, in a prepared statement.

Hopefully that means there will be partner opportunities of some sort, but if there are, they'd most likely have to do with RealPresence with the added benefit of performance visibility and management.

A couple of weeks back, Polycom announced a partnership with Meetrix that would see Meetrix integrate the RealPresence platform into IBM SameTime.
