In advance of the upcoming Data Center World Global Conference, Data Center Knowledge, now a sister site of Talkin' Cloud, had the opportunity to discuss data center efficiency issues with a couple of conference speakers.

The event, which will be held in April at the Mirage Resort in Las Vegas, covers all the essentials for seasoned data center and facilities management professionals. Two conference speakers — Scott Milliken, Computer Facility Manager, Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL) and Chris Crosby, founder and CEO of Compass Datacenters — recently sat down with Colleen Miller, a long-time journalist at Data Center Knowledge, on how efficiency plays a role in their data centers.

During their conversation with Miller, both Milliken and Crosby discussed their data center challenges. They also gave a sneak peek into process, policy and design in the data center. Crosby gave his analysis on why data center managers should first vet the advice of others before making any decisions in their own data centers.

"They have to be sure the others are following the assumptions they are following," he said in the interview.

At the conference, Crosby will also have a session on work safety implications of high voltage electric equipment. According to him, electrical issues are a serious concern in the data center industry.
