Rackspace Hosting (NYSE: RAX) is introducing new features and enhanced services offerings for its open cloud platform customers.

The vendor is taking its support offerings and making them available across its entire portfolio of products and services, including its new open cloud platform, through Managed and Critical Application Services.

"Providing the highest level of service in the industry is central to our values as a company," said Lew Moorman, Rackspace president, in a prepared statement. "Cloud computing customers tell us they want good pricing and exceptional service, and offering one without the other simply won't cut it in today's environment."

Through its Critical Application Services, Rackspace enables customers to focus on their core business while the vendor keeps their vital applications up and running. Every environment is tailored to the specific customer requirements, and Rackspace uses web-scale engineers, ongoing consultation and performance monitoring to provide the service. It's also now backed by Rackspace's support and by the Rackspace 100 Percent Production Platform Uptime Guarantee.

Additionally, Rackspace's Managed Cloud Services are now being made available for seven new products the company has launched over the past several weeks as part of its open cloud platform. According to the vendor, the new services provide customers with access to a team that can help them plan, deploy and run websites or applications in the Rackspace open cloud.

Managed Cloud Services support the entire open cloud, including:

  • Cloud Servers and Cloud Databases, powered by OpenStack;
  • Cloud Files and Cloud Block Storage, powered by OpenStack;
  • Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Backup;
  • Cloud Load Balancers, Cloud DNS and Cloud Networks.

At the same time, Rackspace also reminded customers and partners that even as Google and Amazon go toe-to-toe in a cloud price war, they shouldn't forget that Rackspace is offering "good pricing and exceptional service."

Moorman also noted that the open cloud platform was designed in a way to offer customers choice and control without having to worry about vendor lock-in.

"We believe customers ought to be able to move anytime they see another provider offering better features, service or value," Moorman said in a prepared statement.
