Backup, replication, and virtualization management solutions provider Veeam Software has been awarded two U.S. Patents for capabilities found within its Veeam Backup & Replication product.

The first patent, U.S. Patent No. 8,332,689 B2, covers technology including support for the company's Instant VM Recovery, which enables Veeam Backup & Replication to recover a failed virtual machine.

U.S. Patent No. 8,402,309 B2, the second patent, covers technology including support for additional capabilities of Veeam Backup & Replication, such as SureBackup, Universal Application Item Recovery, and On-Demand Sandbox.

"For seven years, Veeam has constantly been on the forefront of bringing new capabilities to virtual data protection with software that is powerful, easy-to-use and affordable. Being awarded these patents is a strong validation of our company’s strong history and culture of innovation,” said Veeam CEO Ratmir Timashev in a prepared statement.

He added that the company expects additional patents will be granted soon. Veeam will file new patent applications to cover further capabilities in the company's upcoming release of Veeam Backup & Replication v7.

Veeam recently announced availability of its Veeam Management Pack (MP) v6 for VMware, extending Microsoft System Center's environment to monitor VMware and vSphere.  The product marked an update to the companys portfolio of management software for VMware (NYSE: VMW) vSphere and Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) Windows Server Hyper-V environments.
