Veeam Software, focused on VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V backup, is adding roughly 3,000 customers per month. Here's the update from VMworld 2013.
Veeam Software Vice President of Product Strategy Doug Hazelman says partners can look forward to a lot more promotions toward the end of the third quarter.
Veeam Software, the backup and management company focused on VMware (VMW) vSphere and Microsoft (MSFT) Hyper-V environments, spoke to us this week at VMworld 2013. He offered an update on Veeam's channel strategy and the company's march toward 100,000 customers by the end of 2013.
Veeam Software Vice President of Product Strategy Doug Hazelman admitted to Talkin' Cloud that he mispoke during our first conversation back in February 2013. But that's not necessarily a bad thing for Veeam partners.
According to Hazelman, Veeam is not adding 1,000 or 2,000 customers a month. Instead, the company is adding more than 3,000 customers a month, mainly due to a partner promotion during the second quarter of 2013, Hazelman pointed out.
"We ended the year of 2012 with 57,000 customers," he said. He added that after Veeam's second quarter promotion, the company hit 73,000 customers.
Hazelman said partners attending VMworld noted Veeam's rapid release cycle as being positive. He said partners get to go back to their customers with something to talk about, and it gets them energized.
With regards to Veeam Backup & Replication v7, launched a few weeks ago, available now to channel partners, Hazelman said partners are really excited about it. "A lot of it has to do with that we finally support tape, which means they have a much more cohesive story around getting their customer backups to tape," he said.
Hazelman said partners can look forward to a lot more promotions toward the end of the third quarter, driving business growth for partners in the fourth quarter. He could not, however, comment on the specifics.
