Looking to meet several government requirements, Dell (DELL) has released a new solution called Dell Cloud for U.S. Government to provide infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS) and software as a service (SaaS). The solutions add 275 security controls to keep data and services secured and isolated. Here are the details.
Dell said Dell Cloud for U.S. Government was designed to meet the requirements of the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) approval process and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-53 criteria. It was also developed to meet cloud commitments outlined by the U.S. Chief CIO.
Government customers can move to FedRAMP, FISMA, and DIACAP cloud environments to meet NIST 800-53, and DoD 8500 standards. The suite of solutions offers both single and multi-tenant environments.
George Newstrom, vice president and general manager, Dell Services, U.S. public sector said in his prepared remarks that the company aims to work with government customers to meet their standards, as well as enterprise-class performance standards.
"Government customers shouldn’t have to make a choice between solutions compliant to their standards and those that will meet or even boost the performance they’ve come to expect from their IT – we think with the Dell Cloud for U. S. Government they won’t have to make that choice," he said.
The company said that Dell Cloud for U.S. Government provides a compliance framework to manage multiple ATOs and security requirements to approach provide the required security control templates, plan of action and milestones (POA&M) management, as well as forms and documentation required by the federal government to obtain and manage an ATO.
Additionally, the suite of solutions can manage National Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (NIACAP), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and others, without compromising a continious monitoring environment for improved network security.
Dell recently launched a new initiative coined the Dell Cloud Partner Program to deliver its public cloud IaaS offering through the channel.
