Avnet Technology Solutions, Avnet's (AVT) IT solutions group, has signed a distribution agreement with PeakColo, an infrastructure as a service (IaaS) provider that made this year's Talkin' Cloud's Top 100 Cloud Services Providers list. The companies said the new partnership will increase the availability of Peak’s cloud services platform via channel partners in the Americas.
Avnet said it will develop integrated and packaged off-premise cloud solutions for its channel partners powered by Peak. These solutions will aim to address the IT infrastructure challenges of channel partners’ customers, including production workloads, business continuity, disaster recovery, storage and networking.
Avnet also unveiled its first Peak-powered cloud solution, which is based on NetApp Private Storage for Amazon Web Services (AWS). According to Avnet, this new offering leverages the performance and control of NetApp enterprise storage while incorporating the elasticity of AWS.
The solution can be accessed exclusively through Avnet’s channel community, enabling businesses to consume NetApp storage in an OPEX model rather than requiring ownership. The service provides terms as short as a 12 month commitment.
PeakColo founder and CEO Luke Norris said in his prepared remarks that Avnet has a unique approach of developing cloud solutions that are integrated and packaged specifically for the channel.
"The success of our channel-centric model rests upon the fact that partners can build and grow their cloud practice at their own pace without capital expenditure, minimal product development cycles, using best of breed technologies," he said. "By enabling business agility through high availability services, we can ensure positive results for our partners going forward."
Channel partners have the option to white label Peak’s Cloud through Avnet’s Cloud Accelerator Program Powered by Peak. Avnet partners can offer cloud services by integrating Peak’s enterprise-class cloud services platform. The platform features Open Compute or Cisco FlexPod-based infrastructure and NetApp storage which can be integrated into an existing managed services portfolio.
PeakColo recently brought on board a former Cisco Systems (CSCO) channel manager to head up its sales efforts. Dave Woodward joined the company as vice president of Sales from Insight Enterprises (NSIT).
