Here are some answers to frequently asked questions that Carbonite Partners have about the new Carbonite Backup Appliances:

Can you tell me more about the Carbonite Backup Appliances?

Carbonite Backup Appliances are a lineup of powerful and affordable hybrid disaster recovery solutions that help SMBs protect their server data and minimize downtime. The Backup Appliances combine the speed of local backup and recovery with the ultra-reliable protection of the cloud. They use image backup to protect an entire server in one pass, including files, applications, operating system and settings. This enables bare-metal restore, so your clients can rapidly recover their entire system to new, similar or dissimilar hardware without having to worry about installing the operating system or any other software.

What are the management options?

Carbonite Backup Appliances include a centralized monitoring and management dashboard, where partners can manage all of their clients’ backed-up devices from a single pane of glass. You can choose between full and incremental backups for flexibility and capacity management. You also can set custom retention policies, including separate policies for the local and cloud backups. Bandwidth settings and throttling allow you to optimize network usage and manage network traffic. The appliances also provide advanced compression technology to speed backup and recovery times and reduce storage costs.

What does Carbonite include in its appliance lineup?

The appliance lineup includes five models across two different form factors. The mini-tower appliance provides a sleek form factor and optimal performance for SMBs. We offer three mini-tower models, with local capacities ranging from 4TB to 8TB. We also offer a rack-mount appliance. The rack-mount hardware offers additional hardware-based benefits like RAID, and provides ultimate performance for discerning managed service providers. We offer two rack-mount models, with local capacities of 4TB and 8TB. It’s also important to note that all Backup Appliance subscriptions include a Cloud Storage Starter Pack, ranging from 1TB to 4TB, depending on the plan. This means that one low annual fee covers the hardware, software, support and service, and cloud storage--with no additional licensing fees or hidden costs.
